The Story Atlas
Concept design · Cadimore
Summary
An oversized storybook becomes an exhibition threshold, a civic reading landscape and a live passage through illustrated worlds.
The Brief
Give storytelling a visible spatial structure. The project must make the relationship between page, route and narrative understandable in both an intimate exhibit and a wider public setting.
The Inspiration
An atlas lets separate places coexist within one object. The book’s spine and turning pages offer a way to organise different scenes without losing their connection.
The Concept
Monumental pages frame illustrated surfaces and entry points. The landscape spreads those leaves into routes and gathering pockets; the performance places bodies between the page planes, making the turn from one world to another physical.
The Experience
Visitors approach the spine, discover individual scenes and move between page-shaped thresholds. The live sequence progresses through reading, departure and encounter, giving the same spatial story a temporal form.
The Outcome
The book becomes a working narrative structure rather than a large prop. It connects the act of reading with the movement of a visitor and the progression of a performance.
