Summary
A pearl-lit underwater environment turns ocean imagery into a room visitors can explore from within.
The Brief
Give the ocean story a human point of entry. Monumental projections establish the world, but the experience also needs an encounter close enough to touch and investigate.
The Inspiration
Pearls condense a vast marine environment into a small luminous object. The relationship between that intimate scale and the surrounding sea drives the design.
The Concept
Turquoise currents and pearl-like particles wrap the room and continue across the reflective floor. Rounded consoles provide a tactile counterpoint to the expansive moving imagery.
The Experience
Visitors enter through the surrounding currents, approach a pearl console and discover the room from a lower, more intimate viewpoint. Shared reflections make other visitors part of the ocean scene.
The Outcome
The room connects wonder at environmental scale with curiosity at hand scale. The pearl provides a clear focal point within a visual field that would otherwise risk becoming only spectacle.
