A Garden Worth Carrying
Concept design · Cadimore
Summary
A handbag becomes a planted pavilion, with its handles and clasp framing a garden that visitors discover inside the familiar outline.
The Brief
The handbag suggests a protected private world. The challenge is to make that sense of enclosure generous enough for a public garden, while keeping the clasp, handles and body readable as one object.
The Inspiration
A treasured bag holds things chosen for their usefulness or personal meaning. The concept extends that sense of keeping and caring into a living inner world, asking what a vessel might carry when its contents are a shared experience.
The Concept
A generous handbag frame holds branching surfaces, planting and an open garden interior. Its recognisable handles remain above the visitor, while the body becomes a threshold between an object seen from outside and a place discovered within.
The Experience
Visitors cross the frame, gather around planted pockets and settle into seats within the garden. Small tactile details invite close attention, allowing the sense of care associated with a personal possession to unfold at the scale of public space.
The Outcome
A treasured object becomes a garden that holds people as well as planting. The handbag’s recognisable outline connects a strong visual identity with the quieter pleasures of shade, conversation and a world discovered within.
