The Drawing of Tomorrow
Concept design · Cadimore
Summary
A pencil draws a coral line through a public landscape, turning its first mark into seating, planting, passage and an invitation to contribute.
The Brief
The pencil and its mark must read as one composition. The brief gives the line an occupied role, turning a gesture into seating, passage and planting rather than leaving it as a graphic on the ground.
The Inspiration
A pencil suggests that an idea can begin with a modest gesture and grow through what follows. The concept draws on the relationship between the tool and its mark, allowing a drawn line to become something others can inhabit.
The Concept
A turquoise pencil with a sharpened tip and familiar eraser sits beside an unfolding coral line. The line curves into seats, planted pockets and an open passage, making the act of drawing legible in the structure of the landscape.
The Experience
Visitors follow the line, rest along its curves and explore the spaces it holds. A pattern activity at the edge invites small additions, giving people a way to contribute while leaving room for those who prefer simply to observe.
The Outcome
A first mark becomes a place that others can inhabit and continue. The pencil and unfolding line connect imagination with passage, seating and participation, giving a small creative gesture the presence of a shared landscape.
